Kobe Helps the Homeless

Kobe Bryant has always been the type of person that will help out someone in need, whether it's on or off the court. This time around, he is helping those right outside the stadium. Bryant, who formed the Kobe and Vanessa Bryant Family Foundation back in June along with his wife, served as the honorary chairman of the United Way Homeless 5K Walk/Run at Exposition Park in Los Angeles. With the Black Mamba, the event drew in a record amount of participants with over 5,000 people who pledged to raise $100 at the very least per person. Kobe told the press during an interview, "We have to do a better job of letting them know we care about them and letting them know we're here to support them." He added, "There are things we take for granted on daily basis, like getting up in the morning and eating breakfast and taking a shower that are inconsistencies for them on a day-to-day basis."Continue reading

Kobe Bryant Visits Manny Pacquiao’s Training


Kobe Bryant made his way to the world famous Wild Card Gym to pay a visit to pound-for-pound boxing king, Manny Pacquiao. As PacMan was training for his upcoming match with Juan Manuel Marquez, the Black Mamba was sitting ringside as one champion looked upon another. Pacquiao sparred against three different sparring partners with Bryant watching his every move for about an hour. Bryant was able to meet and have a conversation with Pacquiao's legendary trainer, Freddie Roach. "He’s a nice guy," Roach told reporters about Kobe. "We talked a little bit. I enjoyed meeting him. He didn’t get a chance to talk to Manny that much because the training was about to start when he arrived." The Black Mamba and PacMan have met before because of a commercial shoot for Nike, and Kobe has shared his respect for Manny Pacquiao. "I love his tenacity," Bryant told Philippine reporters in July about Pacquiao. "I love his competitiveness, you know what I mean?"Continue reading
