Nike World Basketball Festival

We all know what Nike is capable of, but this time they really outdid themselves.  This years 2010 USA Basketball World Championship Team and music mogul and multi-platinum selling recording artist JAY-Z put on electrifying performances at legendary Radio City Music Hall in New York, tipping off the inaugural World Basketball Festival. The World Basketball Festival is a four-day celebration of the performance and culture of the game, an event that NIKE has committed to reprising every two years. The action runs August 12-15, and features basketball’s leading brands within the NIKE. After Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul and Michael Jordan showed up at Rucker Park for the morning session of yesterday’s World Basketball Festival, there was only one way Nike could potentially one-up themselves: Bringing Kobe Bryant up to 155th & Frederick Douglass for this morning’s session. Kobe shared his tips of playing lock-down defense (keep your feet wide in your slide), then made his way around stations offering pointers on jump-shot form, ball-handling, and moving without the ball. To wrap up Kobe's trip to NY for the World Basketball Festival, he made a special appearance at the Niketown.  The store was filled with screaming fans and participants of the festival. With everything that Nike had set up during this 4 day event, Kobe taking time out of his schedule to show his appreciation and love for his fans blows me away.  I have included all of the photos and video from the trip, and a funny video of one of Kobe's fans groovin to music at Rucker Park!

Here is the amazing fan, just groovin! Continue reading
