Lakers beat the Nuggets 95-89
February 28, 2010With the Lakers all geared up and getting ready for the playoffs, they gained a 95-89 victory over the Nuggets in todays game at Staples Center. This game was a real treat, being that both teams had their regular starting lineups intact to play eachother for the first time this season. "It was nice to be in somewhat of a pressure-cooker," Bryant said. "It's been two years now where we've beaten them in the postseason, so I'm sure they're fed up. They played with a lot of energy and intensity, and we had to step up against them. It was a playoff type of intensity." Odom had 20 points and 12 rebounds, which included the nine and eight in the fourth quarter, allowing the Lakers to comeback from being down by 11 in the thrid quarter. “Even in the second half, we were down 11, I think. We made some adjustments. We were able to get back into the game. That’s a pretty tough team. They play hard and push us to the limit.” Artest had 17 points, 4 boards, 4 assists, and 6 steals! He definitely had one of the best games of the season with his defense on Carmelo. "He earned his money tonight," Bryant said. "That's what he's here for, is to defend and make life uncomfortable for the opposing scoring players. He just did a fantastic job."

76ers falls short to the Lakers
February 26, 2010Friday night couldn't get much better than watching the Los Angeles Lakers win at the Staple Center. Bryant with 19 points and eight assists and Gasol with 23 points and 11 assists, the Los Angeles Lakers held the 76ers to one field goal over the final 3:40 of a 99-90 victory. "I felt fine. If they needed me to go off, I could have, but we had so many mismatches with Pau, Andrew and Lamar [Odom] in the fourth quarter," Bryant said. "My ankle feels 100 percent. I feel strong. I feel solid." This game was far from dull, with 23 lead changes, seven ties and 13 fouls called through just the first 3-quarters. It wasn't until Jordan Farmar hit a 19 footer that either team took a lead, the 76ers only got a close as two points after that. The Lakers are still trailing Cleveland by one and half games for the best record in the NBA. The Lakers beat Denver in last year's conference finals, and with a nationally televised showdown against Denver coming up on Sunday it should be a game to NOT miss.
