Lakers win in Boston

celtics On Sunday in Boston, Kobe Bryant hit fallaway jumper with 7.3 seconds left to give the Los Angeles Lakers a 90-89 victory over the Celtics, to hand them their sixth loss in eight games. Bryant finished with 19, and Andrew Bynum had 19 points and 11 rebounds. After Friday night's game, Bryant complained of a stiff ankle, and it seemed to bother him during the game. Before Kobe made his big shot, he shot 8 for 20. Just then he made a move toward the basket before stepping back from Iverson and swishing the ball through the net to give LA the lead i the second half. "He had a couple of looks before that that were good looks, and he didn't put them in. We were mystified by that," said Lakers coach Phil Jackson, who tied Pat Riley atop the franchise coaching list with his 533rd win in Los Angeles. "He told me the next one was going to go in, so we went with him."

Pau Gasol had 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Lakers, who won their fourth straight game and beat Boston for the third consecutive time.

"They smacked us two years ago," Lakers forward Lamar Odom said. "It was a big game for us. This is a team that's going to be battling to be coming out of the East."

WORLD’S TOP SOCCER ATHLETES JOINED BY KOBE BRYANT AND MARIA SHARAPOVA TO LACE UP AND SAVE LIVES IN NEW SHORT FILM FROM NIKE

Football Rivals, Tennis and Basketball Stars Show Creative Ways to Wear (NIKE)RED Laces In Fight Against HIV/AIDS In Africa

In support of Nike and (RED)™’s unique two-pronged partnership approach to fight HIV/ AIDS in Africa, leading footballers Didier Drogba, Andrei Arshavin, Clint Dempsey, Denilson, Marco Materazzi, Javier Mascherano, Fabio Cannavaro along with Maria Sharapova and Kobe Bryant came together in a new viral film released by Nike this week to encourage fans globally to “Lace Up. Save Lives.”. The film is part of the Nike and (RED) partnership. Nike produces (PRODUCT)RED branded laces, with all of the profits split equally between The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria – which funds medication for those living with HIV – and football-based community initiatives that deliver education and understanding around HIV/AIDS prevention in Africa.  This unique partnership, first announced on November 30th, the day before World AIDS Day in London last year, delivers programs that both medicate and educate. Bringing together athletes with global appeal across football, tennis and basketball through this film provides another way to elevate awareness and unite people in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Africa. The film features a cast of global athletes using the (NIKE)RED laces to lace up in unusual and imaginative ways.  Premier league rivals Drogba and Arshavin pay each other the ultimate respect lacing each other’s boots, as do Serie A competitors Materazzi and Cannavaro.  Maria Sharapova and Kobe Bryant add their personal touches, while all the players use the (NIKE)RED laces in distinct ways to encourage support for the campaign. Chelsea and Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba, the leading global ambassador for (Nike)RED, has been wearing the (NIKE)RED laces in Premier League and at The African Cup of Nations, comments: “Filming was a lot of fun, but all of us are aware of the seriousness of the problem of HIV and AIDS in Africa and it is something I have seen first hand when I go back there. Maybe people aren’t aware but AIDS is treatable and we want to encourage players and fans around the world to buy the laces and help fight this disease.” The (NIKE)RED viral is available at nikefootball.com starting at 5pm GMT on Friday, January 29th. The (NIKE)RED Laces cost $4.00 and are available at Nike stores, www.nikestore.com and selected other sports retailers.  And additional (NIKE)RED products will be introduced in the coming months.

Team KB24 / Josh Powell

ecently we had the privilege of sitting down with NBA Champion and Kobe's good friend Josh Powell. An avid music fan and sneaker aficionado, Josh had this to say:

How are the zoom V's different to play in than the IV's?

Basically you still get the same support, but it’s a lighter and lower cut shoe. The colors are awesome on the IV, but I am really looking forward to the new colors of the V. The lighter shoe allows me to move faster and better, and I know they will always be on the cutting edge with a shoe that really supports your game.

Do you feel the V’s give you more support than a hightop?

I definitely do. It supports my playing style great.

What is your favorite Kobe colorway so far?

I personally like the Christmas Day shoe and I love that it was exclusive,...but I do look forward to seeing the future colors of the V. I know they will be coming up with some one of a kind and creative combinations.

What is the one thing that surprised you about Kobe after you met him?

How personable he is. He reached out to me and kind of took me under his wing, and I have appreciated learning from him and being able to work side by side with him everyday. He supports us all as a team so much.

What is the best piece of advice that Kobe has given you to improve your personal game?

To continue to stay mentally ready and always work harder than the next person. Kobe's work ethic is incredible, and when you combine that physical preparation with a tough mental outlook, you will be successful. I look at what he does everyday, and it continues to inspire me to work harder and harder.

What's the funniest moment of the season so far?

Can’t put my finger on just one... we as a team have a great time together. There is such good chemistry, and we all enjoy being together and working together. It makes for some fun and crazy times.

What's on your iTunes and do you and Kobe share music?

I listen to all genres, and I am a huge music fan overall. I really share music with the whole team, and it is definitely one of my passions.
