Everyone came out to celebrate this years 2009 GQ Men Of The Year December issue. It was a star studded event at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles, CA where Kobe Bryant was named “Champion Of The Year”.
During the interview, when Joel Lovell brought up two comments, one made by the Lakers’ coach Phil Jackson describing Kobe as “uncoachable” and Tex Winter questioning if Kobe had “ever listened to anyone”. Kobe’s response was pure genius and explains not only why he is such a great player but a super star in every aspect of his life!
"I take those comments as a compliment," Kobe said when I brought them up. "I'm not the type of guy who's going to jump over a wall just because you tell me to. I want to know the thinking behind it." And then added "Those guys both know how I think about the game. They know how I work.”
For all of us fans we know and see with every game just how hard Kobe has worked along with his teammates to get the Lakers where they are now, world champions! You can’t teach greatness, you have to be born with it. Kobe definitely shows us through his charitable efforts and basketball that he was born with a density to be GREAT. He doesn’t let anything stand in his way, hence the title “Champion Of The Year”! As an inspiration to his fans by achieving greatness, he opens the space for his fans to strive to be better not only in sports but in life.

Last nights winning game against the Pistons was definitely one to watch! Kobe who suffered from a strained right groin added another 40 point game to his record making it his 100th! He also made one of the sickest twisting, turning, no look layups over Kwame Brown ever seen.
With the help of Andrew Bynum with 17 points and 12 rebounds for his eighth double-double, Jordan Farmar with 10 in reserve roles, and Shannon Brown with 12 points, the Lakers made their 106-93 victory over the Pistons.
Before the game Jackson stated that he believed Bryant's groin injury to be so severe and so limiting he might be forced to sit out a game or two this week. After the show that Kobe put on leading the team to their victory this is the statement that he had.
"That's the kind of effort he gives," said Jackson, who initially feared Bryant's groin injury could sideline him for several games. "It's a remarkable trait he has. It's what sets him apart from other players."
Can’t wait for tomorrow’s game to see what Kobe and the Lakers have in store for all of us fans!

The Lakers put up a strong fight in Denver Friday night for a back-to-back game against the Nuggets. For the first half they moved the ball well and played solid defense, leading the first half with 19 points was Kobe Bryant and Andrew Bynum with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Ron Artest played great defense on Carmelo, only allowing him to score most of his points when the Lakers key players were sitting on the bench. With the final score being 105 – 79, we now just need to look ahead at tomorrow’s game and play harder.
Bryant said. "I don't know if we had Pau it would have made any difference. They played extremely well."
Here are some stats from the game:
Kobe Bryant with 19 points
Ron Artest with 11 points and 6 assists
Andrew Bynum with 19 points and 15 rebounds
Everyone tune to support the Lakers this Sunday!

The Lakers played great basketball last night against the Phoenix Suns! Kobe put the team ahead early with 12 points by the first-quarter, while the Lakers scored eight points to finish the half ahead 59-49.
The Lakers were still missing Paul Gasol, but gaining Andrew Bynum who came back from his two-game layoff scoring 26 points and taking 15 rebounds. His arm clearly was feeling just fine sinking 13 of his 18 shots!
"We kind of disturbed their rhythm a little bit," Bynum said. "They weren't just freely passing the ball everywhere. Offensively, we pounded it on the inside. We were able to score 78 in the paint. That's tough for anybody to combat."
Have to give credit where credit is due and this team last night lit it up! Josh Powell was extremely helpful off the bench scoring 14 points and 7 rebounds, and Derek Fisher was a defensive god. Steve Nash would have had another breakout game if it wasn’t for Derek Fisher. His defense skills against Nash lead to the Lakers defeat the Suns 121-102 and break the Suns four-game winning streak.
"With Steve, you just try to make him work as hard as possible," Fisher said. "You know he is going to score some points and make some plays. I did tell the coaches that when he did give the ball up, there definitely would be times where I could keep him from getting it back. I felt like that would really impact their ability to execute."
Cant's wait to see the Lakers bring it for the rest of the season!
